An Evening in Lagos for Two — Dinner, Music and the Old Town
Lagos rewards people who move slowly through an evening. The town is small enough that nothing requires advance logistics, and the geography means you can go from dinner to live music to a late drink without covering more than a few hundred metres.
Dinner: timing matters
Portuguese restaurants in Lagos fill between 20:00 and 21:00. Arriving before 20:00 means a quieter room and faster service. The old town has a concentration of restaurants within a few streets. A table outside, if the temperature allows, is part of what makes an evening here distinct.
After dinner: the walk
Leaving a restaurant around 21:30 puts you into the start of the evening's social phase. Rua 25 de Abril and the surrounding streets are filling up. Bars with live music have their doors open; you can hear what is playing from the street.
Where to find what is on
GIL Lagos shows confirmed live events for tonight sorted by start time. Checking it before leaving the hotel gives you a plan without over-committing.
A note on not planning too much
Lagos evenings that start with a rigid agenda often miss the most memorable moments. The bar scene is small enough that you will encounter music by walking around it. Leaving room to stop somewhere because the sound from the door is good is how Lagos evenings tend to produce their most unexpected pleasures.
